The Bionic Ear Institute an independent, not-for-profit, biomedical research organization, is a world leader in research to help deaf people and a major contributor to the development of the cochlear implant. The Institute is now building on this expertise and, together with its collaborative partners, is developing a bionic eye, intelligent brain implants which will help the management of epilepsy, targeted drug delivery systems and high fidelity bionic ears.

This new role is an exciting opportunity to manage the Institute’s communication strategies and utilize your previous experience in relationship development with corporations, businesses, government and the community. Reporting to the PR and Fundraising Manager, your duties will include identifying PR and newsworthy opportunities, developing communication and media strategies to increase the profile of the Institute and to providing support to events, corporate partnership and ambassador volunteer programs.

To be successful in this role you will need to be able to demonstrate a high level of interpersonal and relationship building skills. A tertiary qualification in PR or Communications and knowledge of Web 2.0 social media communication strategies would be highly desirable.
