Remember us in your Will

'I have included a bequest in my Will with the hope of bringing joy to many more deaf children in years to come"
Betty

Remembering the Bionic Ear Institute is a practical way of helping to make a real difference to people's lives. All bequests contribute significantly to our important biomedical research and will help future funding of research projects, laboratory equipment purchases and research fellowships.

A bequest is a simple but powerful way to support the Institute and leave a lasting commitment which will help the future of many children and adults.

A bequest can be a gift of cash, property, shares or other investments. It can be a nominated amount, a percentage of your property, or the residue after all your other gifts, taxes and debts have been fulfilled.

Your Will

Planning your Will is one of the most important decisions you will make.

▪ It is a legal document that explains how you wish your assets to be dispersed after your death.
▪ This document should be carefully considered as to your family and loved ones' needs and your specific benevolent interests.
▪ Your Will can set your mind at rest in the knowledge that your assets will be legally administered in accordance with your specific instructions
.

How to Make a Bequest in Your Will to The Bionic Ear Institute

There are a number of ways in which you can make a bequest:

▪ A nominated monetary gift
▪ Residential and other property
▪ Shares Art works and antiques
▪ An insurance policy

The Bionic Ear Institute can give suggestions of specific research programs. However, the Institute would prefer a bequest to the general purposes of the Institute, as a specific research program may not be current at the time that your Will operates.

A bequest needs to be carefully drawn to comply with legal requirements. It is advisable to seek assistance from a solicitor.

In the event of you wishing to make a nominated monetary gift in your Will, it is advisable that a paragraph such as the following appears:

I give to The Bionic Ear Institute, the sum of $_____________ (insert the amount of the gift) or _____________% of my residuary estate ________________ and/or the following property ______________ (insert nature of gift such as address or real estate property or specific item) to be applied for the purposes of medical research by The Bionic Ear Institute in such a manner as its directors may determine.

I direct that a receipt in writing of the authorised officer of The Bionic Ear Institute shall be deemed proof of payment.
