Established in December 2005 with the support of a $6 million grant from the Victorian Government's Science Technology and Innovation Initiative Scheme, this grant was matched by Bionic Technologies Australia's members. 

Prior to the launch, the centre was know as VicBionics and the Victorian Centre of Medical Bionics.

Our Purpose

• Develop bionic products and medical devices from Australian based research

• Protect technology and product outcomes with patents and patent families that underpin future investment

• Foster collaboration between academic research institutes (including its members) and commercial partners

• Conduct outcome focussed research of relevance to the bionics and medical device industry
