My research project involves signal processing techniques for cochlear implants. My work is particularly focussed on encoding those temporal processing features which are perceptually important and absent in standard cochlear implant sound processing strategies. It is anticipated that these temporal features may help cochlear implant users better track the fundamental frequency of sounds, which is important for perceiving speech in noise and music.

My PhD supervisors are Dr David Grayden and Prof Anthony Burkitt. Thus far I have designed prototype signal processing techniques which I am evaluating with cochlear implant research volunteers.
