Nerve protection using nanoparticles to deliver neurotrophins to the deaf ear
In collaboration with our colleagues at the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at The University of Melbourne we have developed a novel therapeutic approach to encapsulate neurotrophins using polymer chemistry. Bio-compatible and bio-degradable nanoparticles have been used in order to release neurotrophins in a slow and sustainable manner, with a view of adapting this strategy for long-term treatment of nerve deafness.
